Best(cheap) way to get from Santa clara to SFO?

anything would do. the only thing is that we'll need to leave around 4am. our flight departs at 6am, domestic

I think it would be best to take a cab from Santa Clara to SFO. There is no other direct public transportation. You could also take a hotel shuttle if you are staying in a local hotel.

Santa Clara and SFO are on opposite ends of the Bay Area.
