Yes, i do because kids now days spend too much time playing these games and watching t.v. and dont excerise enough. What do people usually do when they watch t.v.? Eat snack food, such as chips. Turn off the t.v. and go for a nice long walk together as a family and everyone will feel better.

No, I don't think that video games are to blame, I think it is a lack of supervision on the part of the parents or guardians. If a parent administers the use of these video games then kids would spend less time being sedentary. My younger brother grew up playing video games, my mom however kept tabs on how much he was playing, at some point she would ask him to quit playing and sent him outside to play. He would get upset at first but once he was outside riding his bike around he forgot all about the games.
In my opinion it's parental negligence that is to blame, some parents use video games and tv as a babysitter, it keeps the kids busy and inside the house, however it also keeps them immobile.

I believe that it is a result of a problem. I believe that video games, tv and movies are a result of bad parenting. Instead of playing with their child(ren), parents are taking care fo their own needs and sitting them in front of the tv. It tells them that it is okay.

Don't you remember as a little kid creating games in the backyard or park? We had imaginations that were much different than now. We were active in how we used our ideas. So if they kids are sitting in front of a tv they are not active in using what they know. So they aren't expending enough energy.

Thats my thoughts at least. Obesity is a result of video gaming, but that is because they dont know any better and are not active. To each their own and eventually we will find out a true answer, until then we all have our own views.

Sure. Right along with anything else that doesn't include exercise. So here's a groaner: When I was growing up we always played with neighborhood kids outside. Even as a teenager we rode bikes all over the place & did a lot of walking. I lived about a mile from school & always walked to and from. My parents only let us watch TV for an hour on school nights & sometimes we didn't even do that.

They have a small part in a much bigger reason that kids have obesity. The most predominant contributor has to be diet. Too many calories, too much "bad" fat from meats, too many preservatives, too much sugar, carbonated water, dairy products full of hormones- and to top it off, they might have malnutrition. Because US agriculture focuses so much on corn and soybeans, almost everything eaten is mostly from this. For example, livestock use the carbon from these plants and Americans of all species consist of carbon with an isotopic ratio essentially matching corn: we are corn on legs. Back to the problem, this leaves out a wide array of nutrients from other food types. Many of them are "snuck" into our foods: orange juice especially is enriched with megaconcentrations of vitamins that one body doesn't need and probably can't process. But not ALL of these vitamins and minerals get covered. Sometimes kids jus thave a bad diet and end up with scurvy. Yes, this is because of bad parenting. The adults of society are far too satisfied with the dangerous path agriculture takes. But, most people probably enjoy the junk food too much to contest. This nation produces most of its crops to feed animals that we would be better of not eating, but are eating in such huge volumes that heart disease is the number one cause of death and slaughterhouses can barely keep up. The number of chickens killed on average in ONE factory in an hour is around 13,000. And this is all based on non-renewable resources: land, water, and OIL. Fossil fuels are burned to make the synthetic fertilizers so that huge amounts of grain can feed, not starving children or healthy Americans, but massive amounts of enslaved animals. And let's not even begin with pesticides, GMO's or the nasty things in our water and thus fish- which will be extinct by 2050. Consumers need to wisen up because the bottom dollar drives all of it. But we're too busy raising more kids that are one generation removed from the reality of family farming or sustainable agriculture.

it is not just the video games.
it is a whole lifestyle change.
parents these days are too busy to spend very much time with their child.
the easiest way to keep them quiet is to stuff them infront of a TV with a video game as compared to bringing the kids for camping, etc.
that plus the fact that we are all too "busy" to cook decent food, our kids will have all the fast-food while playing the video games.how convenient.

I believe so, although companies would do good to market the exercise benefits of both DDR and the new Wii.
