All puppies should have fresh, clean water available to them at all times..If a puppy doesn't get enough water, it really endangers the development of his immune system, and he will be more likely to catch diseases..You may remove water a hour beofre bedtime, until he is potty trained. but be sure to put it back down as soon as he wakes up..

From 3 weeks old and on puppies should have a water bowl with clean water accessible to them at all times.
A puppy that can't have water whenever it wants can quickly become dehydrated and then it could die. So, have a dish available all the time, and food 4-5 times a day and nursing once or twice for another week.
Do NOT take away the water at night. The puppy is way to young for that and potty training shouldn't even be addressed yet. The water is there for it's survival, taking it away at night puts it at risk for dehydration. A 6 week old puppy can't be treated like a 9 month old.

I give my 5 mo old pup water all day but at 11pm I only leave about 1/2 cup water in the bowl. When she was 6 weeks (I had just gotten her) I gave her 2 cups every 4 hrs if her bowl was dry but stoped the water at 1130pm when she went outside for the last time. Hope this helps!

A 6 week old puppy does NOT need water available 24/7! You'll never get the puppy trained that way! You want to put the puppy in a crate. When you take the puppy outside to go potty and the puppy goes potty you bring the puppy back in and give the puppy water. Then you know that the next time you take the puppy out of the crate it will need to go potty again When you go to work in the morning you don't want the puppy to be full of water while you are at work unless there is someone there who can let the puppy out. You want the puppy to be a good puppy. Your not going to dehydrate the puppy but you are going to regulate when the puppy gets water and food so the puppy doesn't suffer with a full belly of water or food locked up in the crate.
If the puppy pees or poops in the crate do not punish the puppy. clean it up. It is your fault. You are the one who needs to make sure the puppy is let out side in time to take care of its business. It is up to you to know when the puppy needs to go. I'm assuming this is an indoor dog.

I would make sure the pup has water constantly. Worry more about the food servings. I practice the NFL (No Free Lunch) system. My pets are only allowed food 2-3 times daily at certain times. This lets them know that food is a reward, not something they always have.

There should be clean water available all day long so the puppy can drink when it needs to. You should take the water away at night and give it back first thing in the morning but only if your nights are 8 hours or less. If you have to take the puppy out at night, you should let it get a drink before you go out.

Just leave a water bowl out, with a towle under it if your pup's messy, and be sure to keep the bowl clean and full 24/7.

I always make water available all day and night, until about an hour before my dogs go to bed. Then I take the bowl away. If you see that they are having accidents in the middle of the night, take it aways an hour and a half before bed. Keep going until you have no accidents at night. When they are older, they won't have these so you can leave it available 24/7. Good luck!

There should always be water available in his water bowl. The pup would drink water when he feels like it. There is no way that the dog would drown himself in his bowl of water or drink to much, maybe eat too much....?!
