I've noted the same as well. I had a question regarding whether or not I should study Goetia, and some one thumbs downed me.
I think it's just the only real snob someone over the internet can do.

I'm sorry but I'm confused. Are you trying to tell us that we shouldn't be allowed vote our opinion? That is what the thumbs are for you know. What do YOU use the thumbs for?
Are you going to tell me that I shouldn't try to vote a Christian into public office? Or that I should not be allowed to vote on something that I feel is fundamentally flawed in this world? Some people feel that communism is great! If a communist candidate ran for office in America, would you tell someone that they can't vote for him? I wouldn't agree with him, but I wouldn't deny his right to vote.
Stop trying to control us.
By the way, atheism isn't a religion. It's a lack of religion.

The big question is: Why pay attention to the thumbs?
I've noticed that you can play the audience by saying something that may make people agree or disagree.
If I'm in an atheist-friendly question, then my answer usually gets thumbs up. If I'm not, then my answer usually get thumbs down.
I won't let that stop me from tackling some of the more interesting religious questions.
In the end, it doesn't matter.
Hell, I even change my filter to see all the questions. I don't need Yahoo to hide questions from me. If I think it's a crappy answer, I'll vote on it, and it won't show up again for me.
Incidentally, I don't vote based on how I feel on a subject. If an answer addresses the question in an intelligent manner, then I wouldn't dream of voting it down.
On the other hand, if someone asks a serious question about how he can tell his parents that he's Wiccan and some jerk answers with, "Turn yourself over to Christ," then I'll vote thumbs down because he did not answer the question. He chose to preach instead.

That question is asked repeatedly with the same results each time. It's not only the Atheists that get thumbs down, but if it's not a Christian sect, it gets thumbs down. I agree. Not cool.
"Serving Lord Jesus" ... you are not serving Him. Jesus would not "thumbs down" Atheist!

I agree with you. I am a born again Christian, but I would never knock someone or degrade them for not believing what I believe in. Sometimes I wonder if people are as secure in their beliefs as they profess. If you believe what you say you believe, there is no need whatsoever to bash or invalidate someone else's belief system just to validate yours. I love God with ALL my heart. And God NEVER taught any Christian to mock, criticize, or condemn another man. Last time I checked, it was the Pharisees who had Jesus killed that treated people this way. It was THEIR way or nothing. Being respectful of other people's beliefs (or non-beliefs) does not signify a lack of faith. Being disrespectful does. You're right...it is definitely NOT cool.

many don't view atheism as a religion its actually the absence of any religious beliefs or convictions yet you still answer I'm an atheist when people ask what religion you are if they said what system of belief do you follow then fair enough but atheism certainly can't be categorised as a form of religion it an anti-religion and yet you all try so hard to be accepted as one kindda sad really your all so confused about what you believe

They report the atheists on principle, and that gives a thumbs down. Are you saying we should do the same to them?

~LOL~ I noticed that too. I was just on that question. Give it a few minutes and they will hit the Pagans too. I always answer that question and am always amazed by the thumbs down. How in the hell can stating your belief or non belief system be a bad answer?!?!?!

That just shows how many people feel towards Atheists, and it's not right. Or maybe they didn't consider Atheism a "religion." Who knows.
