I have a 5 month old goldendoodle. She has been digging holes in the backyard of our new house. It is all dirt right now, no landscaping yet...what to do? She stays outside when I'm not home, because she is not completely house broke yet.

5 month old mutt...
What you need to do is designate an area in your yard that she is allowed to dig and no other area. Since it's all dirt this will be rather difficult but you can still achieve it by positively reinforcing her to dig in one area only. When she digs in other areas give her a firm NO, but tell her god girl when she digs in the proper area. You can bury bones and treats in this area to help. Cordon the area off with boards or something so she can distinguish (and so you can as well) the boundary's.

When you are not home your puppy should be in a crate inside the house. It is the best for potty training and it ensures the safety of your puppy's health and life.
A puppy digging in the yard is bored and lonely, maybe scared.
A crate provides a safe haven for it, it is indoors and won't get rained on, overheated, too cold or attacked by another animal or worse. It helps the puppy feel safe and more confident.

Don't leave it outside unattended.

Oh be careful, when I posted about a goldendoodle I had people say I made the dog up! LOL

But on to your question... here's a site to help out with digging issues:
