my views on religion have been changing my entire life. From birth, Christianity was forced on me. I was dragged to church every sunday and fed the same stories my entire life, therefore i believed in it because it was all that i knew. It was ground into my head that this was true, that this was the only way. Once i got older, i started to question things. Did i believe in God and have faith in the christian religion because I truly believed or was it because it had been pushed into my head since i was born? I am unsure what to believe now. I have faith that there is some higher power, yes, but i dont know exactly what it is. I dont follow the bible word for word because i do not agree with everything is says. but i have been raised to believe that this is wrong and that i will go to hell for this. but is it not wrong to force beliefs on myself? and worship ways of life that i believe are truly wrong and dont want any part in...i cant bring myself to do it. so back to the question...have i changed my views on religion? yes. is it because of this forum? no. it is because i feel i need to find faith within myself rather than within society.

I'm going to speak from a Theist point of view. The problem I see is this: Atheists have some great "something to think about" arguments but all too often either the question itself or the following atheist comments include rude and uncalled for put-downs. If the facts were given minus "invisible sky toddler", then the facts would be better received. Just my opinion.

Goddess-worshipping Pagan here....who would've loved to have gotten lots more info from all kinds of believers, in many faith traditions....

But with the huge number of over-zealous folk that react with instant name-calling, plus the silly trolls, plus the sheer-out haters and bigots that are over-whelming this site....?

My view on most evangelistic/conversion-emphasizing faiths are changing---and not for the better, I'm afraid. Have to keep on thinking and hoping, "maybe it's the _people_ that are mis-speaking, and the _beliefs_ concerning Deity are just fine...."

Yeah. I used to think ALL of my fellow Christians actually KNEW something about the history of their Faith prior to 1500 A.D.

Now, I am sorry to say...I no longer believe that. The percentage is actually quite a lot smaller that that.

If I see one more time on here that the Council of Nicaea chose the books of the Bible I'm gonna jump out the window!!!

I was raised Presbyterian and as an adult have since become non-denominational, not associated with any organized religion. So, as far as this site influencing my choice of 'beliefs'...no, yet I very much respect and appreciate reading of all person's views.

I'm happy and satisfied with what I believe (I'm an atheist), and no I have never changed my religious beliefs in my entire life. They've just become a little more complex and a little more solid as time passed.

I have, not because of this forum. But yes, I have. 27 years of being agnostic. Now I know there is a higher power.

I will have to say that I have become more open mined from the forum.

I still hold many of my views but for different reasons.

I think , contrary to popular believe that all Christians are hateful, I have learned to answer question more lovingly.I still find myself angry at times but that is changing. I see a lot of love being given here when it isn't deserving, and it reproves me at times, and it should. Thanks, and God Bless.

I have become interested in Catholicism, and part of it may be because of this forum. I've decided to not change my religion though.
