Most _front_ teeth do not need crowns after root canal treatment, in my opinion, unless they have large fillings already. They CAN turn grey, but most of the time they do not. I'd just deal with that if and when it happens.

Depend on why the tooth needed the root canal.

If the tooth had the root canal because of a large cavity invading the nerve, then crown is recommended after root canal therapy.

If the tooth had the root canal because of trauma or gum disease, then a conservative filling is adequate after root canl therapy. If the tooth turns grey in the future (rare), then veneer may be placed at that time.

In my experience, a root canal kills and removes the root, so there's not much tooth left after it's done. Then they usually put a cap on that tooth and you're set.

Your dentist should have told you this. Give your dentist a call.

HAVING A CROWN IS STANDARD TREATMENT.
