I peeked around the corner in his room to find that he had his diaper off and was playing with himself, He had a little hard on, when I walked in on him, his eyes got all big and he started screaming and pushing me out of his room, then he slammed the door on me and would'nt let me in..He usually doesnt act like this, and he's been taking off his diaper alot lately...I tell him no, and put his diaper back on with an outfit, but he still manages to get it off and now he pee'd on the carpet...Again not usual behavior, He's also really frustrated for no reason.. Is there a logical explanation for this? How do I get him to stop?Is it normal for little boys to play with themselves at this early of an age..?He turns two in January...

I have a two year old (3 in April) and he did the SAME EXACT thing. You may laugh but I just taped his diaper on him and pretty soon he just stopped trying. I asked the Doctor what she thought about what I was doing and she agreed that it was ok. About him playing with himself my son still does that. You don't want him to grow up with a complex of any sort but maybe you should, in a very clam way, discourage it.

boys like their equipment, the first time they discover they have parts they can play with, they'll grab it at every opportunity. He's ready for potty training. It's not a phase that will end, he'll just get more discrete about it, probably will stop some time after retirement age or until the equipment is wears out, whichever come first. Frustration can be from any number of things, his vocabulary is still developing and communication issues are usually the cause for many outburts at this age.

I have also heard that it is a sign of being ready to potty train. Have you started to sit him on the potty or let him watch when you go. Tell him that this is where big kids go and soon he will be big enough too. The most important part of potty training is that you do not push them to do it too quickly-if he resists, wait a week or two and try again. There are lots of web sites with great advice. Oh yeah, my three year old began to "play" with himself and be more interested in that area when he was two. It's a guy thing I guess; they don't ever stop.

Try putting his diaper on backwards with the tags in the back. My cousin had to do this when her son was taking off the diaper. I believe she also ended up using duct tape. Just around the diaper, not on the skin. That way he can't get the tape off.

Sounds wierd, but it worked. And I've seen the technique suggested other places too.

It's perfectly normal for little boys to "explore" themselves. I have 2 sons, who are 3 and 4 y/o. He could be frustrated because someone has made him feel ashamed of himself for doing it. Don't ever shame them. I tell my son's that it's something they should do in private and not infront of ppl. That's all, I don't tell them that it's bad, or nasty. They have no idea of sexual thoughts at this age. Why push it? He may also be (in a round about way) letting you know that he's ready to start potty training. It's a boy thing, nothing to worry yourself about. Good luck

Go to the department store and buy a package of diaper pins and some rubber pants. Pin his disposable diaper on like you would a cloth diaper, then put a pair of rubber pants over top. You can also try putting a pair of thermal knit training pants over his diaper.

My son does the exact same thing! What I do is ... when he is at home I keep him in a onesie. IF,he has out grown the 24mo onesie but you can buy an extender for the onesies you have now at Babies r us. They snap right on to the original onesie. This is a normal phase to go thru and patience is a must! Or you can buy him the full outfits(the outfits that are not two peices! They button on the back so you can slip him thru and button him up and he can't un button it himself! They have these outfits for all seasons! Remember- this is temporary!

Have u tried to potty train him yet? I think he may be ready if he has been taking his diaper off.

Also, it is normal for little boys to 'touch' themselves sometimes but not alot.
