most little kids just like the hot dog, so if you have 2 little kids....it evens out.

Because you're buying weird brands. The hot dogs I buy come in packages of 7. This works out well with the 8 packs of buns because there is usually one that gets messed up when you're separating the buns and then I can just throw that one away instead of using it. Most brands where I live (west coast) come in 8 packs of hot dogs and 8 packs of buns so I've never really understood this "problem".

the buns break more often than the hot dogs. some companies produce the buns in packages of 8, however.

cause people who bake and people who make hot dogs don't
sell like items.
donuts come in dozen packages like eggs.
we don't buy chickens by the dozen.
loaf bread is sliced but not for a pound of meat.
Gold is not sold at 16 oz per pound but troy ounces 12 oz
anyway buy 4 packs hot dogs buy an extra pack of buns. (5 packs)

There are three reasons:
1. So the guy doing the barbequing can eat pieces of the two extra ones and nobody will notice any missing. And:
2. So the dieters don't have to have a bun.
3. Fido likes hotdogs, but he doesn't care for buns, ketchup, mustard and relish.

I know i never understood this at all. It makes no sense! If you want to eat the best hot dogs in your whole life buy Hebrew National all beef hot dogs!!!!!

The extra hot dogs make good missles to throw when a pet is acting up, plus they eat it so ya aint gotta clean it up.

I figured it out. See, the thing is, life doesn't always work out according to plan so be happy with what you've got, because you can always get a hot dog.

they know you will snack on one or two while you are cooking. at least i know my husband does. but in his case i still usually have about four hot dog buns left over!
