If I reject God because, let's face it, the Christian God is absurdly implausible, but...?

But suppose that when I die I find myself facing eternal damnation because it turns out that the universe is even wackier than Lewis Carroll on LSD, and there really IS a supernatural being that can only be seen or heard by lonely shepherds wandering in the desert, and who really DOES dole out eternal rewards on the basis of who lives up to some archaic system of morality.
Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle! But anyway, now I see the truth and obviously "believe in" God, since the guy is standing right in front of me. Do I get into heaven now, or does the all-powerful, all-loving and all-forgiving God not care about your belief once you're dead?
If I'm standing there saying, "OK, I was wrong, I see now that you really do exist", is the God of Infinite Compassion gonna say, "Sorry bub, times up. You're spending eternity in a lake of fire, and there's not a goddamn thing you can do about it"?

If this is your God's idea of forgiveness, I'd just as soon take my chances, thanks very much.

It appears several of our bible thumping friends are here tonight. Kind of sad really. Christianity is not practiced in the true spirit of Christ. God's forgiveness is eternal. I am a Christian and I believe that even in hell after death that God will still forgive those who have lived a life of unbelief. I do believe also that everyone will get back whatever they have put out too, but it is not forever like we normally think of it. You see in the spirit realm after death there is no time so a moment there is like an eternity. It could be the equivalent of thousands of years in earthly time.
