first of all realize that more people are injured walking or driving every year than flying. second, i also suggest to keep yourself occupied. don't be afraid to ask the flight crew what to expect, and remember that the crew are professional and have logged probably hundreds of hours. as for myself I would sit next to the window unlike the first answer.that way you can enjoy the wonderful view that you will never see anywhere else (you can always pull the window shade down if it bothers you) Have Fun!

Take a Music Player, some gum and pull the shade when you take off.
PS. The thing about turning off electronic devices is BS.
Personally I was stoked the first time I flew, seeing the ground take off was awesome... sorry.. that prolly didn't help much..
