I'm 13 years young, 5'3'' and 93lbs. My relatives are really obese. When I see them, they always pinch my arms, and go on about how they used to be as twiggy as me. Look at them now! They're like a bunch of sloppy llamas! I don't want to be cursed with THEIR curves. I want to stay my healthy size and weight for the rest of my life. How can I do that? Please, I'm scared. I don't want my thighs to look like turkey legs!!

I know how you feel; obesity runs in my family.

I broke the chain of obesity by staying active; lots of cardio at the gym, weight lifting, dancing, walking my dog. I also try to eat as many fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean meats, and dairy as possible for breakfast, lunch and dinner. (Don't skip meals!!) That food pyramid is still a good guide on what and how to eat. Be sure to control your portions at meals and to control snacking excessively. Its good to snack throughout the day but choose fresh fruits, veggies, granola, and nuts over fatty snacks like chips and sugary snacks like cookies.

Good Luck. Remember that they still are your family and respect them.

Genetics play a part as you know, but if you eat a sensible diet and get a reasonable amount of exercise a few times a week, I'm willing to bet you'll be just fine. Just don't go to extremes, and cause yourself frustration, which usually causes people to give up.

it might or might not happen to you (genetics). sometimes, when people get to a certain age, they boom. seriously, i can relate to you. a bit of cuves won't kill you, it can be your advantage too. but if you really wana drop all of that, it is not entirely possible. but working out on daily basis would help. abt the legs, don't sit too much at home or outside. go out with a couple of friends and have fun but also watch your diet! peace.

you should start to diet, increase your physical activities, and consult a nutritionist. Try to avoid foods high in cholesterol and calories.

Eat ONLY when necessary. When you eat, ALWAYS THINK OF THE CONSEQUENCES. Don't let yourself do anything you know you'll regret later. Think of the consequences. That works for me. It will probably work for you as well.
