Yes... I used to use a curling iron to smooth and straighten my hair on a regular basis before straighteners became widely available. One of my older irons had a weakened spring so it wouldn't clamp the hair tightly. I would take sections at a time and slide the iron from root to tip.

If your iron clamps the hair tightly, you'll need to squeeze the handle slightly to loosen the grip on your hair, then slide the iron down the length of your hair.

Be careful not to stop sliding partway down the length of your hair or the iron will create a crease in your hair. If this happens, dampen the crease and slide the iron down the same section again.

Yes, a curling iron works just as well as a straightening iron, but it takes longer and you have to do it in small sections at a time. It definitely gets the job done though. I've done it plenty of times. I just listened to music to get me through it. Try it right now on a small section of your hair and you'll see.

Use a good curling iron at a higher heat level than you usually do (but not too hot so you don't ruin or burn your hair). Smooth it down slowly then curl it in or out back to the top and hold it. Careful not to burn your hair though. If you're gonna use a product, it can be tricky to choose and it needs some experimentation till you find something that's light (a lotion, moisturizing spray, heat protector, etc.) so you don't lose body and it gives it some shine. Don't use a pomade or anything with vaseline in it because it'll ruin the results. Try Pantene Relaxed and Natural Daily Oil Cream Moisturizer, Neutrogena Triple Moisture Silk Touch Leave-In Cream or Frizz-Ease by John Frieda, but use very, very little of it. I use a 1 inch barrel curling iron size but I'm sure a 1.5-2 inch would make the process much quicker.

It might work, but is not a good idea. You should definitely go with a straightener. Oh, and try to only straighten your hair every other day to keep it healthy. Always put protective product in before blow-drying, curling, or straightening.

I like V05 spray. it protects your hair when using heat tools.

Good luck!

yes you can.it works best on fine hair.if u use the curling iron backwards as if u were going to curl your hair outward it will lay flatter.do not clamp it completely shut or you will have a crimp in your hair and follow hair all the way to the end without turning them up. gel on damp hair and blow drying straight with a paddle brush makes it easier and using a straightening serum with gel works great. gloss drops afterward adds shine and a finished look

It is, but it is not that effective. You just clip in your hair to the barrel and start from the roots, slowly go all the way down to the tips. It works best with a large barrel iron.
