did he really love her and what should i tell my friend?

my friend found out that they guy she was talking to really wanted to be with her(thats wut he said). well a month ago,she kissed one of her guy friend and almost had sex wit him. so 2day, her and guy friend talkd about why he has not got with her yet and he told her that was a reason y and the fact that he wanted to respect her last boyfriend(her guy friend messd with her while they was dating).. i feel if he knew b4 y did he not say anything yet
