I want to PCS sooner than my arrival date to Ft Lewis is august10 please help. I'm on rear detachment in a stopped loss unit and our unit is due back on January, but the stop loss is over on June 1st (I know most stop loss last for three months after re-deployment). I'd like to leave sooner than before the stop loss is over but any thing before august. would be great. The reason for wanting to leave so badly is my wife is pregnant and her due date is May 4th. We already have one toddler; it just would be so much simpler to move across country with just one baby. Plus, we're all really tired of Ft Drum, after 3 years of being here we're very stir crazy. All still not enough reason for leaving early in colonel’s eyes. Thanks

All you have to do is check with your unit. It's really that easy. Most of the time they LOVE people to come in early. At my husband's first assignment we had a report date of April 6th and he called and asked if he could come earlier and we ended up getting here on Feb 6. It never hurts to ask and plus it shows your initiative to work and that will always reflect well on you! We are Air Force however and not Army but I would think things would work the same! remeber there is always someone higher to go to. I'm sure the Colonel has a boss, ask the Commander of your unit. If the Colonel is the Commander, ayou can ploitely ask the base Commander.

I understand your reason for wanting to be home for the birth of your child and to help your wife. It is what a good husband and father would want to do.

But obviously you have been in the military long enough to know that the needs of the army supersede all else.

When I served as an Army officer I found that the motto,
"Mission First, People Always' pretty much summed up how things worked. Not much comfort if your situation, I know.

The only thing I can think of is that if, God forbid, your wife's Ob/Gyn certifies that it will be a difficult...perhaps dangerous birth, you might be able to have your Colonel reconsider his decision. That's the best I've got.

yeah, those complaints are really not grounds for an early arrival date. is the colonel the approving authority? i know alot of 4187's get stopped in their tracks because of disapprovals, but if they are not the final authority, they should keep going. i thought that it had to go all the way to the HRC. i know you are ready to get out of there, but traveling with two small children isn't quite so bad. i flew with 3 children under the age of 5 from germany to hawaii by myself. it may be better that your wife has the baby in a place where you know and are comfortable and settled at. trying to move when she is so far along is just going to stress her out.

His record date probably relies upon on somebody else leaving that positioned up on the prompt. So pushing it up ought to advise pushing that human being out. No, they could't try this. yet you could employ till you should leave. leases ought to have a protection force clause so that you'll get out of it once you should bypass. If it doesn't, then tell them you'd be leaving for the protection force in June.

It's ninety days of guaranteed stabalization. It's meant to help you. You can waive anything that's meant to help you. The Colonel is perverting the program and using it to serve his own purposes. Talk to his boss.
