I have a good friend that I think likes me. She did things like tell some little kids that I am her boyfriend as a joke. She also touches me a WHOLE lot in conversation. She always makes some contact, but tonight she asked why I did not invite more girls to a group that I lead. She goes to the group. When I said there are not many girls in our area but I knew a lot in college, she said "Good, that means less competition for me." Why the heck did she blurt that out? Is that a hint or just her saying something?

That is a hint that she is into you!! If feelings are not the same tell her now before she it turns into an obsession!

So what does it take for you-getting hit over the head. Theres only one meaning- that the less girls you know the more chance she'll have, its not something anyone would just say for the words are not a casual remark but have meaning behind them. The question now should be do you have that kind of interest in her for if yes then start asking her out and explore the relationship as to where will it lead and so on. If NOT then be a decent guy and tell her since you say that she is a good friend you should be concerned that she not get hurt. Be gentle but truthful.

It is a hint. They have all been hints, the joke, the touching and the comment. These are all things that I would do if I were interested in a friend of mine.

yeah, it sounds like flirting.
But step cautiously, you don't want to make an a ss out of yourself.
I am pretty sure i will get some thumbs down for my answer, but better to be safe than sorry.

Why not use her "jokingly' approach to find out how she feels, that way if it is simply flirting, you won't feel ashamed if it's not real affection she is trying to show.
