with reasonable 1024 x 758 you'll get approx. 300-600kB per pictures, so with 512 MB you can get around 1000 pictures!
but with higher picture size let's say 2048 x 1536 (each aprox 1-1.8 MB) you can store up to 500 pictures!
if you somehow want much bigger pictures, you do the math :) but I'm sure above size is good enough if you print not bigger than A4 size
Though i suggest you puchase an 1 GB card, check out the price because the difference between 512 MB and 1 GB is not so much these days.. also with 2 GB! bigger cards would come handy if you travel for more than a few days, then you'd only worry about the battery!
ok, merry xmas and good luck with your new 'toy'!

it depends on the size and quality of the pictures you are taking. The settings on your camera can be adjusted to let you fit more by reducing the size. If I had to guess, I would say that a 512 MB card would hold, on average, about 150 pictures at a high quality. I have a 1 GB card, and my camera setting shoots a picture of about 3 MB, so I can fit about 300 pictures on my camera. I could fit about 900 if I put it on a small setting, but I love the resolution I get from that quality shot.

That depends *a lot* on the resolution setting you're using.
Most camras have options of taking a lot of low quality shots or a few high quality shots and usualy several levels in between.
Higher quality shots take up more space than low quality ones, so it can very *substantialy. Like from 25 low quality ones to maybe 2 to 5 high quality ones.
If you get an SD card for it, it will be able to hold a lot more of them, but the better shots will still take up more space on the card.
You have a camera with a top end of 5 Mega Pixels.
Lexar's chart says you can hold 195 five Mega Pixel shots on their card.
That's approximate and may very a little depending on what brand of card you get, but that should give you rough idea.

The 5MP Kodak (C533) will allow...
approx. 375 photos on a 512MB SD card
Shooting at the highest quality available (which you should always do).
Shooting VGA quality movies will only allow...
11 min. 50 sec on a 512Mb SD card
Or if it's the Kodak V570, then expect 319 photos and 16 min. 28 sec of movies on a 512MB card.
So...I think 512MB is more than adequate for your needs, unless you plan on shooting lots of 'movies'.

It all depends on the resolution you are taking picts at. Lower the res. the higher the amount of picts. The Kodak cam you are using set at the highest res should allow you to get 150+ picts on a 512mb card. Not owning the camara, that is a ball park guess.

if you take them at the maximum 5 megapixel resolution, not as many as you would like. It is tough to say but the average 5 megapixel picture would probably be about 2.5MB so a couple hundred.
