Hopefully, the History Channel needs a new batch of documentaries. I'm tired of all these WWII ones.

We, in a sense are having world war three right now. It is the state of the electronic age and instant connection that we have throughout the world. We view wars of states, civil wars, aboriginal wars, tabloid wars, political and ethnic wars. You name a country and there is some electronic media available that is reporting on it. The only difference with this one is that it is viewed mostly from armchairs. The two preceding wars were started when a head of state was assassinated or some zealous dictator tried to take over a lot of people through questionable means. That might not be an accurate statement, but in the two wars before there was a defining moment in which various countries took up arms and joined forces in the hope of defeating an aggressive nation. Now what we have is a constant moment in which all national aggressions are viewed highlights for the evening news. There really can't ever be another traditional world war because we don't really have one defining place to go and fight it. What's overseas any more? An hour or two air flight? Not the week or two ship ride that most troops took to get to the battle grounds. Day old news stories in stiff newsprint. Why go and fight another nationality when we of all nationalities live amongst each other every single day. Lets say the British and the Americans, Or the Irish and the Italians, Or the Russians and the Canadians Got in a riff. We could all just trade swats with each other right on our own turf. We now unlike before live with each other in every nation in the world. I think that one would be very hard pressed to find a country that is made up of only one nationality. No, the traditional world war as history once had it is gone. Now the fight belongs to the burecrats, heads of states, Queens and Kings and politicians. Its on going every day everywhere in every nation. Oh i'm sure we will still have the odd dirty bomb or at least the threat of one from time to time or the need felt by larger nations to send troops to problematic areas of the globe all in the name of democracy. With the hopes of success but the inherent risk of causing civil wars and hardships to the non fighting classes of those scocieties. No ones a winner in war eventhough victories are celebrated. The only thing fighting is ever good for is too allow us to live as free as life as possible without the constant threat of aggression to us and our families. Enjoy the waring world in which we live. Details at six.

Jason,
In my humble opinion, I say YES, there will be another world war.
Not to sound like a pessimist, but, the seeds have been planted, and it is only a matter of time until the wrong people are in control of a holocaustic nuclear device.
For the most part, those who first-handedly experienced the only nuclear strike ever perpetrated on a people, are now mostly gone (Hiroshima & Nagasaki). Our present generation is totally oblivious to the devastation that will be brought about by our "new and improved" versions.
Will this be started by North America, you ask. I'm assuming you mean the U.S.A. I think not. To this day, the U.S. is the only power to have unleashed a nuclear device during a war, and we have learned our lesson the hard way. Look around you and you will see that the U.S. is staunch about limiting the development of nuclear power around the world, for, as beneficial as it may be, it is also hundreds of times more deadly if the wrong people were to be in control of it.
I am not against the development of nuclear power for useful purposes by any means, however, it scares me to death to know that there are some factions on this planet that, if given the chance, they will turn a benefit into the worst liability we will ever experience.
'Nuff said.

Do you realize that this is the 313th time this question (or a similar one) has been asked? Don't believe me? The simply enter world war III in the Search for questions box and hit the search button.
But to answer your question solely to keep with in the Community Guidelines....
Will there be one....perhaps
Which country...India, Pakistan, India and if they do get nukes...Iran or North Korean.
Will North America start it with nukes...no.
I assume you mean the USA unless Canada, Mexico or one of the countries in Central America has developed them.
NOTE to answer4q....
The USA started WWI & WWII or caused them? How did you come to that conclusion? Prior to WWI the US was an isolationist nation and Presidenty Wilson was elected on the slogan "He Kept Us Out of War". Did you ever study the history of WWI? Do you recall something about that war starting because some minor Ausrto-Hungarian Duke was assasinated in Europe?
And as for WWII...Japan attacked and occupied parts of the eastern USSR and China. Nazi Germany invades Poland in 1939 and conducted massive air raids on England long before we entered the war after Dec 7, 1945. You really should have stayed awake in history class.

It's already here, but I doubt the U.S. will pull the nuclear trigger, even in the name of preemptive defense. Nevertheless, the first shots of WWIII have already been fired. And I don't mean in Iraq. We need to go back to the Islamic revolution in Iran, 1978-1979. That started the new world war....it's just taken 20+ years to catch up to full-blown conflict.

Sadly,Yes...I believe there will be a 3rd one (We may already be in it now). Our Pres has tried to defend this country as much as humanly possible, and he still gets critized left and right.
I would not be surprised if Hillary is our next Pres (God Forbid),We (the U.S) then turns tail and runs..(like all the libs want) Which will encourage the Radical Islamist...Iran..and North Korea....One of them will get a nuke and.......well you can see where I am going......

Eventually, it's inevitable, unfortuneately, as much as I hate to think about it, if not, this world is way overpopulated, somehow, huge amounts of the population will be wiped out.
