Okay first of all I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 8 years old; I have never gotten any treatment. My mom also took me to the doctor for OCD or tourettes syndrome. She tends to think there is a lot wrong with me. But I do think that there is something not quite right, but I'm not sure what. I am 13 female and I have done a lot of research on me mental disorders, but I can't really find any thing that describes me. It is very well possible that there is nothing wrong with me and I'm just a bit of a hypercandreat (sp?). Here are some "symptoms:"
Physical:
Increased heartbeat (or it feels like it, I also have and irregular heartbeat, witch might contribute to this.)
Sweaty palms
Weird breathing (short of breath, deep, find it hard to get a breath.)
Mental "symptoms:"
Hyper
Unorganized thoughts/feelings
Impulsive
Feel the need to do certain things (ex. run my hand down my nose, Rub me wrist together, and yes I am aware that I'm doing this, and can control it

But it feels like if I don’t do it then something bad with happen.)
Visual/Hearing hallucinations (only happen in dark or shadowy places)
Feeling as if someone is watching me sudden feelings of terror, like something bad is going to happen.
I think this one is normal, but Just in case…. kind of having two personalities they even argue with each other. They don’t tell each other to do bad things it is just that I will kind of be telling to my self and then I will say shut-up then I will say no and so on.
Mood swings. (I will be sad at somebody on moment, and the next I will love them)
Feeling that paranormal things are happening, and that I am involved in them, like a certain color is special and it means something more then what people thing or that this person is a special “chosen one.”

Anxiety (suddenly I will get really scared for know reason and I will start to walk fast because I think there is a ghosts or something following me.)
These symptoms do not have a sever impact on my life, more like a modern impact. It is not like I get so scared I do not want to go to school, but it might make me seem withdrawn and looking sick and stuff.) I have never done any drugs and please don’t tell me that the devil is in me and I have to talk to a priest to get the demon out, because trust me that is not it.
I have a pretty good diet, I exercise and like sports. My home life is not that great, my parents fight a lot and we are what you can call dysfunctnle (sp). Thank you.

Well, you could be a lot of teens. I know when your family life is not great or is bad we tend to have insecurities and this can cause a lot of the feelings that you describe. Also, you may be sensitive and things bother you a lot. There is a lot to be afraid of today. Many things are going on that make us feel scared. so, you may be trying to distract yourself and your brain and mind from thinking about all the things that could and might go wrong by doing compulsive things. The fact that you know that you are doing theae things and are aware of them and you say you can control them is a great thing. That means you control them they don't control you. That is very Good!
So, being a teenage girl and having hormones raging and things changing all the time can make us feel a little nuts for sure. I was that way. i still have my things, like I count things and I felt for years that that was strange, but, I found out that many people count things. lol. So, am I ok or not, who knows? I think you need to try to get into some activities to keep you busier or at least keep you from having a lot of free time. Don't dwell on things that you can't control, which is one reason you may be doing some of these things. Also, never ignore the feelings you may get as far as fright and flight. Be very in tune to that part of yourself. Sometimes it is an instinct that can save our lives. Maybe not every time you feel it anything is wrong but, it may be just that one time that something is wrong. Stay where you are able to get help and people are around and you can feel safe. Ok. Trust your instincts. I wish you luck and I think the next several years will bring out the best in you. The feelings you have may change and you will be fine. Just try to get through these teen yrs. and changes and you'll be fine. if it gets worse, talk to a counselor at school. Not your mom. sometimes moms over react and make it worse. Because they worry.

You sound like you would make a great accountant; I am.
I think you have a high level of intelligence that is overly active and acute to you surroundings. When I was younger I learned to close my eyes and meditate on darkness, If you do not know what true darkness is, go visits a cave / cavern tour.
Calm the mind, do not worry about your surroundings, just concentrate on you and the task at hand. Learn to move through life as if those outside your immediate focus are just decoration.
I too have rituals I perform, everyday I wash my hands at 6pm after work, I have taken those noticeable things like touching the nose and transferred them to stretching my fingers. Again do not worry with those not in your focus, be true to you.
You will find as you get older that most people have similar feelings we just all deal with it differently.

All of us get that way sometimes. Your human and normal. Stress causes a lot of your emotions. Especially if you are sensitive like me. There is definetly nothing wrong with you. The more you think that you have a problem the sicker you will become. How you feel emotionally (Your mother thinking there is something wrong with you), causes physical symptoms that are normal. Just relax and focus on your education. I use to think there was something wrong with me so I kept going to the doctor, but it was all in my mind, my imagination. It's easy to get medication from psyciatrists. You don't need medication because you don't have a problem.

There is nothing "wrong" with you, but I would suggest talking to a clinical psychologist about the possibility of mild OCD, or paranoia disorder. Counseling would also help, especially because of your home being unstable, these feeling may just be a byproduct of the increased stress.

there is nothing wrong with you hun, its called growing up. hang in there, you will be fine. 13 and 14 are hard...you start to see things from another point of view and that can be scary. also your body is changing too and THAT can be really frightening. it is sad that parents forget what it was like when they were growing up and take their kids to the doctor to get them doped up so they dont have to deal with them. I have 3 kids a 24 year old son...a 14 year old daughter and a 1 year old daughter. I know what it is like growing up. it is scary and confusing sometimes but it will all work out in the end...hang in there!

If you think that there is some thing wrong , don't be afraid to ask, talk to your mom, or a school councilor, don't be afraid to ask questions, it seems that you are a brave girl, for your age, just be straight forward to whom you talk to, and voice your concerns. good luck with it...
