Yes. It is a metaphor. Worry about something more to the point of the season like "Toys for Tots". Maybe you could travel to Walden's woods and have a tree experience.

The tree has to have something to cause it to fall down. There has to be some kind of animal, like a beaver or bear, chewing the trunk or something to cause it to fall over. This just means that there is always some kind of mammal around a tree if it falls over.
but hypothetically, yes, I think it would.

of course. just because we aren't there to witness it doesn't mean that it didn't really happen. it's not like the tree is going to bend down and then lay itself on the ground silently. the force of a tree hitting the ground causes a sound, whether we're there or not. it's like lightning: if it's far away, we can't hear the thunder, but the thunder still happens somewhere else!
