The real truth is that hardly anything is actually in common between these three at the level of the operating systems. You can create many documents, such as photo files, movie files, Powerpoint files or Word files that can be used by any of the trhee systems but those are created by each system using applications that are designed to make universal file types (JPG, DOC, PPT, etc.). You can't use the installed programs on all three. A different development of a program, such as MS Word, must be installed on each.

The Linux and Mac OS X systems are very close and some universal programs have been developed but they are few and far between. Generally speaking, you will have to buy almost all programs for Linux if you want to install them on a Linux system, You can't just take a Windows version of MS Office and install it on a Mac or Linux system.

Now, about these ideas I just read:
"MAC --> is only on MACINTOSH
Linux --> PC
MAC ==> Graphics etc
Linux ==> More technical (programming, coding, hosting etc)
Windows ==> dummies easy use operating system
All are OPERATING SYSTEMS (Common)
Every OS has it's own purpose. I recommend Linux cause it does everything almost"

I think you will find Yellow Dog Linux if you want to install it on a Mac but since there is so much more great software for OS X, why would you? I don't think Linux is more technical. It just seems that way because there are so many half-baked UNIX programs that haven't been fully ported to Linux and require the installer to compile lots of code to make it actually run correctly. Mac used to be the clearly best choice for photo and video work but Windows is getting much better so it is not a clear choice now. Personally, I can nstill see an advantage for Mac in this area but I look very carefully to see it now and in 1995, it didn't take such careful scrutiny to see the advantage. I don't think Windows is the easiest system to use. Many people don't have a clue what is happening when they get an error message in Windows and many other processes, such as getting drivers to work and resolving In-Out resource issues and Interrupt Requests are completely baffling to most people. The new hardware wizzard is a wierd trip that most people are glad to avoid by using a Mac.

In the final analysis, most people either pick what their friends have so they won't get emotional distress from the kidding or pick what they are used to using at work. Some also need the gazillion different games that are available for Windows and that leaves both Mac and Linux out in the cold.

Mac OS-iLife Suite with iPhoto, Mail, iCal, and iMovie
Linux-Open Office, Firefox, Gaim (IM), gobs of others
Windows-Calculator, IE, Outlook Express, WordPad, Paint, Windows Movie Maker

Obviously Apple's computers come with the best software. Linux comes with software to do pretty much anything, but I don't feel like naming it all off. It differs based on what "distribution" you are using. You can look on the distributation that you want to use's website to see what software it comes with.
