Here is what has worked for me ...
1. Eat three nutritious meals and three snacks everyday. Cut out junk food. You probably need about 1500 to 1800 calories a day. Many people make the mistake of not eating enough when they try to lose weight and then become discouraged.
2. Drink lots of water - at least 8 big glasses as day. Lots of water is essential. Stop drinking soda and other drinks with useless calories. Eat fresh fruit instead of fruit juices - the juices are very high in calories.
3. Begin a simple weight lifting program at home or at a gym. Ordinary household items (tins of soup, for example) can actually serve as weights for beginners. Buy yourself a good weight lifting book for women. Actually the "dummies" series of books has done a rather good one.
4. Walk, walk, walk. Buy yourself a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps a day.
5. Record everything you eat and all your exercise to make sure you have a "calorie deficit". Two of the sites I've included will help you do that. Basically buring more calories than you take in leads to weight loss. You need a deficit of 3500 calories to lose one pound.
6. If you drive, do less of it and park at the back of the parking lot instead of close to the door. Always use stairs - never the elevator or escalator.
7. A mini stepper is an easy piece to equipment to have at home and gives great results. I bought mine at a second hand store for $4. even if you use it for a minute or two several times a day it can make a big difference.

I recently lost 15 lbs doing a low-carb diet. I can't say that it was truly South Beach because I didn't strictly follow the 2-week/20grams carbohydrates induction period and I don't obssessively count carbs, but that's how I lost the weight. It's so easy - if you just keep your carb as low as you can manage you will lose the weight. The nice thing about dieting this way is that you never have to go hungry - you just have to make sure there are no/low carbs in what you are eating. After the first couple of days, you WILL begin to see the weight come off. The stricter you are with yourself, the faster it will go. Check the web for plenty of advice on this type of dieting - I recommend it. Good luck.
P.S. If you add any exercise whatsoever to this diet, you will be even better off!

Divorce of course. It works every time. Last time I lost 220 pounds of pure *****. Haha!
Really the best way to lose weight is to exercise and eat small meals several times a day instead of eating three square meals a day. It's all about nutrition and exercise.

Not to be cruel but my husband lost so much weight from having a Daria in four days.He ate a bad fish we had at a family restaurant and that's how he got sick.I swear.
Oh,and that's when he kept himself that way and work out every other day.

You should watch your calorie intake and exercise. Walking is the best. You should eat dinner no later than 7:00.
I don't know why you want to loose weight. It seems to me for your height your weight is good.

Do the Special K challenge seriously i lost 6 pounds in a week and 4 the next. Although my friends made fun of me when i did it but thats more of a guy thing lol

carb diet does not help me lose. I count calories. I got on a dr.pepper kick and gained weight. I have quit the drinks and I count my calories. I try to stick with 1500 calories a day.
