Since I don't know the first thing about ISO files, I've been burning the ones that I download to CD-R's and then running them on my hard drive. Is there any way to do this without the CD-R? Can I just run the ISO files on my hard disc without extracting them first? Thanks in advance :P

The only one I've ever used is Nero Image Drive. It allows you to mount up to two ISO images and they show up in Explorer as two new drive letters.

I do that when designing DVD video disks. I design the disk with menus and such, burn it to an ISO file in Nero, mount the file in Image Drive and see how it works. If it works fine, then I just burn the ISO to a physical disc.

Okay, if I understand you correctly, instead of burning the ISO image to a CD before using it, you want to use the ISO directly. For that, you need a Virtual CD drive. Microsoft has one that's very limited in functionality. One of the best is called Alcohol (yes, Alcohol), but it's a commercial application with a 30-day demo available. It's very well featured and even has a wizard to help you create ISO images from existing CDs and DVDs.

If you're looking for a free one, check around on Download.com for Virtual CD applications. Bound to be a few, so read the reviews to help you find the best.

If you dont want to burn the ISO image you can get a program called ISOBUSTER. That will extract the ISO image to your Hard Drive.

I agree with ballarke, alcohol 120% is one of the best virtual drive emulators out there.
