Well as awful as it sounds try peppermint schnapps. I don't know why it works but for some reason that whole "whisky and rock candy" thing really works! Peppermint is a natural herb that opens up your sinuses too!
Also try Zicam. It won't make your cold go away but it might help you get over it faster. Other than that though, make sure it's not something like Bronchitis or a respiratory infection.
If it lasts for more than a week you're sicker than just a cold and you need to see the doctor.

Katy, I have two ways to get rid of a cold.
1. Go see a doctor and let him load you up with medicines and it will go away in about a week.
2. Rest, take aspirin, use a vaporizer with Vicks Salve in the cup under where the steam comes out, drink plenty of fluids, rest and the cold will go away in about 7 days.

Rest, sleep, liquids like tea with honey, OJ, hot water and a tablespoon of jello is soothing, the Jewish mom's penecillin is chicken broth, it works. Then take advil or tylenol for aches and pains and give it a good 7-10 days to run it's course. Hopefully no secondary infections will set in and you'll be back to yourself. i also like the old fashioned alka seltzer myself. I don't take a lot of over the counter remedies. just what I put here. Good luck. A little Vit. C is good and zinc losenges are good too.

2 Shots Bourbon,juice from a whole lemon,1 1/2 shots of honey,microwave until it's very hot,stir,drink it down,go to bed you'll sweat like crazy and wake up feeling much better.It never fails.Let me know!!
