No, it was decided awhile ago by the Supreme Court that unless children were being harmed by their parents, that there was a section of the Constitution that give parents the right to raise their children without interference.
However, every state does have a small law which grants grandparents the right to file a claim with the court to grant them legal rights to visitation with their grandchildren. About half of the states only grant this right in the case of the children's parents divorcing or if one of them passes away, though.
But, no, grandparents don't automatically get rights, they have to file for them.

Some states allow grandparents to petition the court for Grandparental rights. Other State's don't allow it. Terms and conditions would only stand if ordered by a court, otherwise the custodial parent calls the shots.

yes grandparents do have rights most is one weekend a month and every other holiday u can check in to it over the net or a ur local DHS

All I know in the state of Ca. Grandparents have no rights at all, unless they have legal custody of their grandchildren.

this means they can see the children even if you break up or get divorced from you husband or boyfriend. grandparents can still see the kids whenever they want to. enless you go to court. susan r.
