What can be the reason for sleeping too much? I go to bed at nine and wake up at six and all day i am really tired and i have to try to stay awake in classes. Then when i get home I do my homework and at about 5 I fall asleep and dont wake up until like 7 when someone comes home and wakes me up. I am just so flippin tired these days.

I found this web site thought it might help.

Sleeping is one of the most important functions in life. According to statistics, many teens spend one-third of their day sleeping – meaning that by the age of 15, you will have spent about five years of your life asleep. That seems like a lot, but it is not wasted time. In fact, sleep is as essential for a healthy body and mind as anything else you do during the day.

How much sleep do I need, and why?

Most teenagers need between 9 and 9½ hours of sleep each night. Yet surveys show that most teenagers get only 6 to 7 hours. Twenty percent of high schoolers say that they have fallen asleep in class.
If you don't get enough sleep, you may experience symptoms of sleep deprivation. These include:

* Falling asleep in class.
* Irritability.
* Having a hard time waking up in the morning.
* Difficulty concentrating.
* Depression after prolonged sleep deprivation.

I know your question was sleeping too much but check out the web site. There is a lot of info.

the second web site is a good one too.

Sounds like you are a teen-ager. Teens have a bunch of things, mostly hormone adjustments, that interfere with sleep patterns. They seem to like to go to sleep at, like, 2 in the morning at get up at 9 or 10 or later. In fact, I read that some schools have experimented with having school start for teens really late....

Anyway, try to go to bed later and get up only at a time when you absolutely have to to have time to get it together to get to school, and eat, even on the way, protein, such as an egg sandwich or even a hard boiled egg. Then don't take the naps, just do the night sleeping.

That way, you will get more in sync with what is natural for teens, and not having the naps will ensure that you sleep better at night.

I'm in the same situation you are. My parents are nagging me to do a blood test. You should get one to make sure what is causing your sleepiness. It could be low iron or some other things.
Hope you take care of that problem. It can take over your life if your not careful. Like school work has taken over mine. lol.

Could you be low on iron? Do you eat enough red meat? Take vitamins? This happened to me in my 20's and I could sleep anytime my head hit a pillow....any time of day. Try to get more iron and see if that helps. If not, go to your doctor.

1--You could be on diet to loose fat, lacking for some essential nutrients.
2--The ventilation in your classroom is not good enough, and you get dizzy because of a lack of ovygen
3---You don't move enough, or stretch enough to keep your circulation healthy
