Surely God can't, because jealousy is a human emotion. God is not supposed to be human, he is supposed to be a divine being. Jealousy is one of the Seven Deadly Sins therefore if God committed the sin of envy/jealousy, surely this would contradict everything in the Bible.

Right! It's contradictory. Jealousy is an ego-based feeling. God is without ego. That is just man adding an attribute to God just so it can feel like being a child under the watchful eye of a parent afraid of being punished. Some people need this model of God in order to make good choices and be a model citizen. It does work for those who lack spiritual understanding.

God is not jealous...Like someone said, that is a human word. God is everything and it is impossible to jealous if he is everything. Alot of well intentioned men of good faith could have easily slipped in some of their own emotions when describing God's thoughts to them..No human being on this planet is perfect, not one....Trust me my friends, God is Real, very real. As long as good people carry God in their hearts and follow his good will for their lives--He lives...Don't worry yourself about words and thangs...Either ya wanna believe (faith) or you don't...It's easy for me to believe he's in me and in you..It really tickles my heart at how much the so called "atheists and christian haters" hang out around here when they don't believe like their protecting the children from the evil spiritual folk...lol like the worst thing that could possibly happen to someone is find some faith or a little spirituality.....eooooooooo! All I got to say is ya'll keep coming back, you hang out in the barber shop long enough, you're gonna get haircut...ALL my Love to ALL of you no matter what you believe.....or not! dumb kevin

God is a jealous God because the most prized of his creation, human beings, are working diligently to prove that he never existed. We also try to convince others that someone else is responsible for our existence, such as worshiping other gods made of wood, paper, or metal. How would you feel if you gave birth to a child who chose to say that they evolved without any help from you, and that you had nothing to do with who or what they are.

It's a figure of speech to denote that God will not play second fiddle to the false God's made by men's hands. That he is the one true God and not an idol.

He is a jealous God because he loves us and does not want anything to hurt us...as parents when they protect their children from harm.

God does not get jealous. Why do people insist on giving Him human traits and faults?

Absolutely spot on!
It's ridiculous and it shows the impossibility of trying to fit 'God' into our own ideas.Thinking won't help anyone to comprehend serious spiritual matters, only meditation can do that.
