The dictionary defines it as - a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

That definition doesn't bother me. It's what people DO with religion that my opinion on it changes. A lot of mainstream is ok, it's mainly your neighbor going to Church on Sunday (I sleep in). But the Extremists, geesh, you'd think they'd find a better hobby than bothering the rest of us. They can't have any kind of life if they're worried about what the rest of us are doing with ours.

A religion is a set of beliefs. A belief is an idea that one holds to be true without any proof, evidence, or reasoning.

This encompasses all of the monotheistic religions, polytheistic religions, and even non-theistic religions such as Buddhism.

It does not encompass science.

I think religion is a manmade set of laws to keep the people in line. religion in itself is outdated and no longer necessary to keep people in line. now we need tazers, guns and the fear of jail.
