When I cut out carbonated sodas my face cleared up about 70%. Try cutting out soda if you drink it.

None of the meds worked for me. I had horrible acne, and I figured out how to clear it up myself. Here's my routine that got rid of my acne; do this every day and in a few weeks time you'll look a lot better:

1) Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day
2) Eat lots of Fiber... 20-30 grams per day
3) Vitamin A supplement...or, eat a handful of carrots

This will get rid of your acne better than anti-biotics, differin, salic acid, and everyhting else I tried. I used to wash my face morning and night. Now I just take a shower every other day, and I'm cool. Don't have to worry about acne.

Another misconception... YOU DON'T OUTGROW ACNE. People say you do... but, they are wrong. So, don't wait for it to just go away. Tackle this problem now w/ the method I prescribed and you'll be cool

First, wash your hands well before touching your face. Acne is bacteria and sppreads very easily. Buy a bottle of witch hazel at wal mart or pharmacy. Take a thick washcloth and soak in warm salt water. At night place this on your face, don't move it around, just pat it onto your face and lie down for about 5 minutes. Then take cotton balls and use one for each pimple. Clean each pimple with witch hazel and get it in and around the pimple. throw the cotton away and use a fresh one. Once this is done let your face dry, pat only, if you need to dry it. Don't spread it around. Then take antibiotic ointment and using q-tips put a small dab on and in each pimple. Try not to touch more than one at a time. Throw each q-tip away after each pimple. Then in the morning clean with witch hazel and forget the saltwater and ointment. On weekends or anytime you have time repeat this and every night until it starts to improve. Change your pillowcase often. Do not touch your face during the day unless you wash your hands with hot soapy water and well, then again after. Germs are on doorknobs, chairs, tables, bathrooms, everywhere. So, be diligent about the cleanliness of your hands in reference to your face. If this helps, after a couple of weeks, then use your judgement to stop the ointment or to continue. After a while you should be able to just clean with the witch hazel alone. It is a natural astringent and PH balancer. Also, stop eating greasy foods and never rub or wash your face when drying or washing it until it is clear. Good luck. You should improve in 2-3 wks if diligent. If not you need an antibiotic for a long period of time, a Dr. will prescribe tetracycline most likely and use for a long time. Still use the method I'm giving to clear faster and not have it return.

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.

For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

I was 35 before I finally found a solution that worked for me and maybe it will help you.
My dermatologist told me I had oily skin whereas I always thought it was dry.
She told me that it appeared to be dry as it was trying to sluff off as it is suppose to and I was keeping it from doing that by putting lotions/oils etc on my face because I thought it was dry.
This dermatologist gave me 50mg Tetracycline to be taken twice a day and gave me 2 Benzoine Peroxide creams. . one to be used at night and one to be used in the daytime.
Then she told me to use either Ivory Soap or Basis Soap as the Dove and Caress Soaps that I was using was doing the same to my skin that the lotions/oils was doing.
I took one prescripton of the Tetracycline and quit because I LOVE to be outside and you can't do that on this medicine.
I gave up on the 2 creams as I could not afford to keep that up.
In the end I used only the Ivory Soap.
My skin was dry feeling for a while but I did avoid the creams and oils and eventually my face and skin started feeling OK and I haven't had the problems I had had before and haven't had them since though I do get ocassional breakouts.
When I used makeup,I was told to use one that was water based and not oil based as this contributed to my problem.
See your Dr and get some Tetracycline and some of that Peroxide cream( though I don't know the names I am sure a Dr would know what I am talking about) and even if you don't use it forever atleast you will get enough of the antibiotic in you to kill the bacteria that already exsists and if you use the Ivory Soap or Basis Soap from now on,you probably won't have to have anymore Tetracycline of Peroxide cream.

Good Luck

I used acutane but you need a prescription for that and there is tons of bad side effects (none of which I had so I dont know if they took it off the market!?!). I did hear that proactive works really well however everything is not permante ( the acutane helped later in life because I only get a few break outs nothing to to bad).

Have you tried the Proactive? Costco has their version of it and it is only $27 for a 3 month supply.

Have you tried cucumber paste? Put some sliced cucumber in a blender and give it a whirl, then dab the resulting goop onto the affected area twice a day. Hope that helps...
