Download the free version of CutePDF:
http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp
and don't forget to install the free converter as well (it's right below the link for the free download of cutepdf.
Install it and restart your computer. Now open the file you want to have as a PDF. Then go to file > print and there should be a new printer installed that says cutepdf. Use that and the file will be printed to a PDF file (you'll have to name the file during the print process) instead of to a regular printer.

Go here:

http://www.pdfonline.com

and follow the directions. Your PDF will be e-mailed to you.

If you have Adobe Acrobat or other PDF creation software installed on your computer, you create a PDF by printing it to the PDF printer the software creates when it's installed. Simply select the PDF printer from the standard Print dialogue in Microsoft Word - you'll be prompted for a name and location to save the file.
