Getting another cat is a great idea, but just make sure you don't fall into the trap of believing that he/she will be a replacement for your first kitty, as all cats are different. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss :(

Oh my goodness! That is so sad. I am so sorry.
I agree with the others, wait a little while to let the wounds heal. And keep in mind, the new kitty will not be exactly the same.
I have a 15-year old cat that aggravates me sometimes in some of the ways you described. I try not to get mad at her, knowing that she will not be around much longer.
Heed the wisdom of the Old Cat Lady above.

That is totally up to you. I adore cats so I'd say yes, but keep the new one INDOORS and then he/she won't get eaten. Just remember all cats of a unique personality so the next one won't be a clone of the first. Most cats will sit on your keyboard, or paper you are trying to write on to get some attention. Just load them up and then get on with what you are doing. By the way there are other predators out there that will eat cats too.

It's completely up to you - there's no right or wrong answer.
I would take the time to thoroughly clean your house. Remove all traces of hair and whatnot from your previous cat.
Only then should you consider bringing in a new one.
I chose to get another kitten right away. It ended up taking a few weeks because I was waiting for one that "popped." And then I found Poppy! I figured it was a sign.
I found that having a new kitten to love made me feel better. My husband as well.

I am very sad too ... I just bought a Yorkie puppy on Friday took it to the vet yesterday because she looked weak and wouldnt' eat... I went to visit her today... She was hooked up on Iv I was peting her for about 5 minutes before I left...she was crying to me... After 30 minutes I left the vet called me and said sorry but she passed away... she was only 9 weeks old... I didn't even had a chance to play with her or take pictures... I wasn't expecting her to go away this soon...I feel really sad...that I could n't be with her longer.

Wait---the right kitty will find you. When my old Timmy cat died (she was 16 years old!)--I sat here for days, crying. Then one evil cold snowy nite I looked out my back door and there was a little scrawny tiger cat sitting there staring in at me (looked like a cat skeleton with fur on it). I brought her in (hubby said "NO")--one thing led to another LOL!! Now there's a 20 lb. cat sitting on my lap!! I won't forget old Timmer's but Bubbles is a pretty fine friend! Someone's gonna show up on your doorstep.

Aw Rich. You have learned a painful lesson. My niece lost a beloved cat that way. She just let him out "for a few minutes" at night and he didn't return.
When your sadness lifts go to a shelter to look at cats. They choose their owners and a loving paw will reach out to you. Please consider that it will be an indoor-only cat and possibly getting two so they will have companionship when you are out at work or having fun with your human friends.

That's up to you. I work for a vet, so we see lots of people who have lost their pets. It seems to help a good many of them to get another pet. It helps to fill the void, I guess. You need to do what feels right for you. You could just go to look at your local shelter. You might find a cat that needs you as much as you need him/her.
