Braces will change the alignment of your teeth and your bite(the way your teeth come together). If you wanted to change the shape of your jaw you would have to have jaw surgery. You can get a consult with an orthodontist and they can give you more information on how to get the results you are looking for.

Yes the braces can change the shape of your jaw, but they mainly work on the alignment of teeth, which are held in by your gums which are far more flexible then bone. They do this by causing the bone and gums to gradually yield (deform in such a way that the deformation becomes permanent - kinda like stretching a plastic bag, for a little while it will return to its original shape - elastic deformation - but after a point it yields to a new shape). By shifting gradually, the soft bone (its soft compared to like concrete) will gradually yield and change its shape.

No, that would require surgery.
The braces are designed to move the teeth within the jaw.
It may give a somewhat different appearance as the teeth migrate to the place the braces direct them, but the overall shape of the jawbone does not change.

no it simply lossens muscle in the jaw simulating movement. thus wearing a retainer after the removal of the braces to help build the muscle up again to keep your teeth in tht semi permanant posistion.
not wearing it will cause the muscle to contract almost completely back to its original state

They don't reshape your jaw. They just move your teeth around on it. The bones don't shift at all, just your teeth...

the important thing is that when your braces pull on your jaw, the braces change the shape of your jaw

depends. if you have an over or under bite then yes it will pull it forward or back depending on which you have. if the teeth are just crooked then it just straightens them .
