Right click on the blue bar and deselect 'Lock the Taskbar'. Delete any icons you want to get rid of. Right click on blue bar and select 'Lock the Taskbar'.

Presto chango!

You should be able to right-click on the icon and select delete. Considering that it's something that sounds like spyware or adware, it may just reinstall itself into the quick launch tool bar as soon as you start up windows again.

Unless you moved stuff around that's your quick launch bar.
Just right-click on the icon and select delete.

have you tried minimizing your screen then use the arrows to pull the screen away from the start button
