It will feel very good. You will smile a lot more often and will be proud of your smile.

Caution: Do not forget to wear your retainer afterward.

Best wishes

They hurt at first, but you finally get to feel your smooth teeth again. Everything you eat will feel different in your mouth, and you don't have to brush your teeth a million times a day. My only advice is 1-wear the head gear if they say to, 2- wear the retainer until it falls apart, and 3- whatever you do, don't be neglectful, where you may need braces later in life. My older sister had them twice, over about 15 years, and because of all the shifting, about four of her teeth fell out. Not to scare you, just take good care of them, but enjoy them while you can. You'll feel naked for a while. Good Luck!

Removal of the braces is not a problem - it takes just a few minutes. A tool is used to remove each bracket. There is no discomfort. It's quick and painless. I had discomfort when the adhesive was removed from my teeth. The orthodontist will use a device that sands the adhesive off each tooth. It's not a pleasant feeling. It's like each tooth is being shocked. Some people have absolutely no pain during this procedure. Good luck - you'll do fine. You will love your new smile.

I got mine off years ago, but from what I can remember, it doesnt hurt at all.

First, they use those little scissor things to snap off the wires and the just pull that out as it breaks (its really no big deal).

Then, they use ultra-violet rays to melt the glue thats holding the brackets on...you wont feel a thing.

The only thing you might be able to feel is some pressure when they wiggle the brackets off, but it doesnt hurt at all.

Afterwards, your teeth wont hurt, but they will feel slimy. I wore braces from 3rd to 11th grade so I wasnt used to having anything on my teeth, and I kept having to touch them to make sure they were still there.

The only problem that I really had was that my teeth were a little bit yellow afterwards since I couldnt brush under the braces for such a long time. I reccomend Crest Whitestrips...they work so well!

I just got mine off 2 years ago. And it felt absolutely wonderful. It felt like I lost a pound out of my mouth.

Now to get them off. My dentist took off the wire first. Then he took small pliers and pulled off the prongs. Then he took the drill and scraped off the cement. The scraping will smooth out your teeth. Mine feel great. It sounds scary but its not. Its nothing more than what you've been through already. The dentist will give you a retainer to wear at night, till your teeth and gums harden up to the new position. I still wear mine every other night. It will help keep the teeth in the new position.

And then, go out a celebrate. Eat something you had to swear off of for awhile. My dentist told me I couldn't have popcorn. Guess what was the first thing I had? lol

They pretty much break off the brace, and then scrape off the glue. It doesn't hurt, but you'll feel some pretty serious pressure for stubborn teeth (and they have the water running and sucking up the pieces - that can be awkward). One of the first things you'll notice once they're gone is your teeth will feel slimey - it's weird. :)

It has been quite a few years since I had mine taken off, they mostly tap them off with a chisel like thing, then scrape off the cement. It feels awesome having them off!!!
