I found a surprising amount of French ancestry. I also discovered some Scottish and German aristocrats in family. (though after the fact, I read that it is very common.) Anyway what about you all?

Wow, some real surprises! I found my great grandparents did not marry until they were in their 60's and had had 8 children! The family bible gave a marriage date which was false.
I also found that a second cousin (English) emigrated to America and became a deputy sherrif in Carbon County. He was killed by an outlaw called "Big Nose George Parrot" who was tracked down after 2 years and lynched. The surprising part was that the local doctor had this outlaw's body skinned and tanned. The skin was then made into cowboy boots which the doctor wore! If you think this is a joke......just check out the story on the web by entering "George Big Nose Parrot" The boots are kept in a museum in Rawlings, Wyoming.

I was surprised to find one of my Dutch ancestors married the daughter of a Mohawk Indian sachem back in the 1600s. Now I have a new appreciation for Native American history and culture.

i found Kings of most European countries (dated before the 1400's), Vikings. Also some lines going into China & India.

But the one I was surprised about the most since my family is from the north, is several lines of slaveowners.

My boyfriend found that his grandfather had a lot of brothers and sisters he had never mentioned. Must have been some sort of family rift that no one ever talked about. Unfortunately, it's too late to find out what it was about now.
