About seven months ago, I rebuild my computer which in turns erased everything that was on my coumputer prior to rebuilding from scratch. What I mean is how do you rebuild it in order to remove all viruses. I have all my important files saved up already, and all I need is to know how to rebuild my computer from scratch. Please help me!!!!

If you have your important files saved and have the disks to reload all your programs, then reformat the hard drive, boot to your Windows CD and let it load Windows again from scratch. Once finished, you will then be able to reload your other programs and files. Make sure none of the files you saves are infected. Same goes for anything on a floppy disk. Original CD's and DVDs cannot be infected. It can be a long process, but formatting the hard drive is a sure way if getting rid of all viruses...if you can't seem to get them cleaned.

This is not really rebuilding the computer since the hardware should not be permanently affected by viruses. It's the programs to the hardware that may be affected. This is just reloading everything from scratch.

if it is a name brand pc (hp, compaq, dell) you will have restore cd/dvd you can boot off and itll make it like the day you got it...or a key to hit on bootup to boot off restore partition on your harddrive, it will do same thing, everything installed, just get windows updates.

If not , install windows XP off the cds you have. Once installed, download all windows updates to get it up to date. Then install all drivers for your pc (if windows update didnt put them on already)

the best way to do this, is go on line and download the owners manual, and there it will have all the info you need including tech support.
