prioritize! decide what you are willing to spend the majority of your money on. also use www.theknot.com it can help you keep on track. they have a budget planner and everything. you just punch in the $ amount you can spend and then add or delete the items you want (dj, food, minister) and and it will calculate what you should spend on each thing. you can change what is more important to you (food more than alcohol) put the $ amount in the box and it will recalculate it for you. Weddings during the day and that are held Mon. - Thursday (sometimes Friday) are the less inexpensive ones. Off season weddings are cheaper too. try to find a ceremony site/reception site in one place and that has good relationships with vendors. they can often get you discounts. Remember the more people you invite the more food you'll have to serve. For 100 people the cheapest I found (April 2006) was $3000 and that was a buffet with real plates and silverware. some caterers will say they'll give you desposable plates, but they look a bit tacky depending on what they look like. The plastic plates without patterns on them, look okay. I just went throught all of this, so if you have anymore questions feel free to email me. Buy a planner the book I used was great it's called: Bridal Guide Magazine's, How to Plan the Pefect Wedding, Without Going Broke by Diane Forden. Good Luck

I'm trying to do the same. Try asking around to see if people do photography or dj on the side. That's how I got my dj and he is only charging me $300.00. Another thing to do is have an afternoon wedding and have champagne and hors d'oeuvres instead of a bar and sit down dinner. Recruit friends and family who have talents to help you, people love to help. Some people in my family are artistic so I'm having them do the flowers and decorate the wedding and reception site. Also don't go crazy on centerpieces florist charges get way out of hand. I was thinking about buying bud vases from the dollar store and putting one rose in it--nobody remembers the centerpieces after the reception. Little votive holders and votive candles are nice too. When you do look for photographers or professionals tell them you're on a budget sometimes they will work with you. My fiance and I decided to take our honeymoon a few months after the wedding so that we can use some of the money we get for our wedding to pay for the honeymoon. Also cut down the guest list. Don't invite distant friends and relatives that you haven't seen or spoken to in years. There's a lot to do if you think about it and think of ways to make things cheaper. Good luck!

have an out door wedding.... pay a close friend who wants to be a part of the wedding to be the DJ...its always more memorable like that...and have a cheap photographer as well as some family members taking pix..instead of the photographer being there thru the whole reception and such than have them there for only an hour or so and have family do the rest of the pictures.have ur reception at a family members house instead of renting a hall...and oppose to hiring a caterer have family and friends cook, and serve or have a serve yourself... have everyone bring a bottle of booze or case of beer or something and its good to go..also to get ur money back have diff. contests for example have 2 jars one with the brides name and one with the grooms name and the first one filled to the line with change gets to throw pie in the other persons face!!! its fun, money gets returned and so on... best of luck to you... I'm sure u can do it... for more ideas feel free to email me at daydreamin_ashley@yahoo.ca

That's about how much i have for a budget for my wedding. ITS HARD!! Just try to decide what is the one thing that you really want to come out great. Put the most money into that then you can kind of see whats left for the other stuff.
Good Luck!!

Do you have friends who are talented enough to take care of the pictures and the videos? They could share the job, so they would be on the pictures too. Then , you have the pictures rearranged at a photo store, if you need. About the DJ, I am sorry, don't know. Unless you ask a friend too... (but that would not be fun for her/him) Good luck

Do a lot of D.I. Y projects! You can also book on days that are wedding off-season. Booking on Fridays or Sundays usually saves you about $500. You can also limit the number of people attending, instead of a sit-doen dinner make it a lunch.
As for cheap photographers, dj, etc., hire someone who has just started, their prices are usually cheap. If you hire a well-know vendor their prices are usually high.
*Good Luck!

get married on a Friday or Sunday...in the winter months(a lot more deals, lower rates). Also, many girls who call off weddings are "stuck" with a dress they never wore and will sell it for substantially less than they paid-look on ebay, etc. Order invites you can put together yourself...or even make yourself. Keep the invite list small, to close friends and family.
