I am not sure where you are so I will use the State of South Carolina as my example since I live here. Officers jurisdictions limit where they can enforce traffic laws. However small cities often signed agreements with other small cities which give officers from these two jurisdictions equal authority in both cities. The Chief of Police can enter into these agreements. A new law was passed in this state many years ago to fight drugs across city limits and county limits.
