The heat is turned too high, and possibly make your hamburger patty thinner before starting to cook.

The heat is too high - cook on Med to Med-High - make sure to start with a hot pan and this is the only time you press down on the meat with your spatula (about a count of 10 every minute) to drain the liquid and evenly distribute heat. That's how they fry on the flat grills in cafes and it works just as well in a pan. BTW try combining 3 T Onion powder with 1 teaspoon each of salt an pepper in a shaker for seasoning - very tasty! Good Luck!

It is simple really.
Turn the heat down a bit. I use med or med-high but that will depend on your stove. Turn it down from whatever you have been using. You do not need to grease the pan as the burger, even a lean one (if it is beef) has enough grease in it. Just keep turning it on the lower heat until it is done. If you alternate sides, you can keep from burning it.

It's taken me a long time to figure out how to make it well on the stove... it doens't always work either.. but I think you need to cook it on a lower temperature and for longer.. and make sure they're not huge burgers either... You'll have to play around with them, but it think it's more of cooking at a lower temp and for longer.. Hope this helps.. good luck :-)

Turn down the heat to medium and press the burger occassionally to test for doneness. It should be ready when the juices are clear.

turn the fire down half way and put a lid over it. My husband always messes his burgers up, if that doesnt work try cooking it half way then microwave it for a few minutes.Works everytime.

Be paitient! Lower the heat, and maybe put some weight on them. Like another (smaller) frying pan. I use a brick wrapped in foil. they come out nice & crispy.

Cooking hamburger in a frying pan? Hmmm... try putting in a little oil. Or press down on it with a... pressy... thingy... you know, a hamburger flipper, thingy.
It's best to cook 'em under the grill though.

Sounds like you are making them too thick in the middle. Smash them down when they brown on one side. Also, if you have an electric stove it may be that the burner is not working correctly in the center.
