There's nothing to be confused about Zoey. There are idiots everywhere, even in the ninth grade. Don't worry what others do and just worry about yourself. Stay away from bad influences like that and don't get mixed up in that group. Learn early that if you hang out with losers, you will be a loser. If you hang out with winners, you will be a winner. It's like that your whole life, so find some friends that are going someplace in life and don't worry about the losers. Some of them may seem cool now, but after high school they go to the bottom of the barrel. Trust me, get good grades and have fun the normal way and you will go far.

I am not at all surprised. Kids want very hard to feel older than they are, or to be treated older than they are. To this end they will do many stupid things. I say this as someone who survived that period in my life and has since learned how many ways I could have screwed myself up. Without me typing several pages of all the dumb things I did and what negative effects they could have had on my life, please trust me that none of the things you talked about are things you want to get involved in. I'm not saying that you are interested in any of those things right now, but I know what peer pressure can do, and I also know that a lot of that stuff is a lot harder to get away from than you would think if you've never tried it. For example, I quit smoking almost 7 years ago, and I have worse allergies and asthma than I ever had before I smoked, and quitting was very hard to do. Also, there are several nights that I and my car should not have made it home intact, but miraculously we did. I could just as easily have killed myself or someone else, or wrecked my car. I'm not going to sit here and tell you to do the right thing, but I will tell you that the risks your classmates are taking are a lot greater than I think they realize, because I definitely didn't at the time, and I strongly encourage you not to get involved in it with them.

It is very simple really. Don't be confused. For the rest of your life you will watch other people make choices...good ones and bad ones...AND, you will have to make them yourselves.
A lot of kids your age and younger and older make very stupid choices. Drinking, smoking, smoking pot, and drugs will not either make you happier, or help you get anywhere positive in life...now or later.
Some people choose to do these things because everyone else does them and they think they will fit in. Others do because it is expected of them by their peers. Other do because being high is less painful than their life situation. Anyway you cut it, these short term pleasures will distract you from your goals, mess up your body, tell others about your character, and potentially get you in a lot of trouble.
So, figure out what you want out of LIFE (not just this week of 9th grade), who you want to be, what really matters in life, and make the choices that will get you closer to those things, not jeopardize them.
Good Luck and all the best to you!

when I was fourteen it wasn't the alcohaul that confused me it was the drugs and that wasn't too long ago, times have changed but there will always be stupid kids trying things to try and look cool, I know it;s confusing but you are 14 and no matter what don't ruin that by drinking. I'm 23 and trust me I can drink whenever I want but it really isn't anything special and I'm glad I never did when I was younger it's just bells and whistles.

I was exactly the same as you when i was younger, always naive to the things that were going on around me. i never partied, never did drugs or anything when I was in highschool, but I still had tons of friends and I don't regret not trying stuff.

Seems somethings never change - kids drank beer when I went to school too - and just so you know Peppermint Schnapps does not work just like breath freshener. remember just because other kids are doing it you don't have too - I always brought my own soda so I had an excuse in my hand. Good Luck!

DO NOT get drunk, high, or whatever. Peer pressure is hard, but if somebody offers you some, you can just say, 'I'm too cool for that stuff.' and just walk away or something like that. But if they have a gun to your head and say, 'If you don't take this drug/drink, I'll kill you.' Do it, or you'll die. Or kick them in the balls and run... that's what I would do!!

Well I'm not going to be a hypocrite and tell you not to do it.
I know when I was a freshman in high school I did my fare share of drinking.
But yes, it happens all the time. If you haven't tried it, then there's no reason for you to start.

ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUGS LIKE NICOTINE HAVE BEEN USED TO SOME DEGREE BY KIDS FOR A VERY LONG TIME.there are no degrees of which are okay.beer is probably the easiest for those kids to sneak.let it be known ....ALL will get caught eventually. stay clear if you can.
