Absolutely!! As someone else said, those waiters get paid very well. You are already paying their salary. There is absolutely no need to tip 15% to someone who's already earning $30/hr.
10% is absolutely fine. And if you buy wine, you only need to tip a corking fee - usually $3 to $5- NOT a percentage of the bottle price.
Don't know why people are telling you otherwise, unless they're waitresses trying to keep the faith or just ignorant. Plus, you can consider this - since you'll probably never go back, at least no time soon, who cares?
Don't break the bank trying to fund some guy's condo simply because you want treat your loved ones to a Christmas present.

well to be honest it depends on how well they served you and what they did that made you feel good. i mean if they treated you like you were family i would do that because i use to be a waiter making $5.35 an hour at 200 a night working 16hrs a day 7days a week. Of course it was a bigger city so that is why i get was getting so much. but like i said if you are treated with the odd most respect then yes give them a big tip if not just leave a dollar and walk out the door fast as you can.

In Europe the end is immediately blanketed interior the tab. yet the following interior the u . s . the position anybody is continually searching for a lot, tipping is optionally available. even with the undeniable fact that, no matter how good or how undesirable the service, that server has to pay expenditures like maximum anybody else. it really is in common words undesirable manners no longer to leave a sensible tip. in case you do not manage to pay for to tip, tell the server in order that that they received't sense undesirable. I Cr 13;8a if you're no longer mushy with leaving a fifteen% tip then you may want to guage eating quickly foodstuff or take out. i'm no longer nor ever were a server yet when i visit't leave a tip I stay remote from the eating position.

Most fancy restaurants pay their waiters extremely well. It would not be expected of you to tip more than you usually do. In fact, tipping a little less would be just fine if the food is to be that high in price, especially if it has a 'no tux, no suede shoes, no service' policy.
Don't break the bank..

I never tip a percentage. I tip based upon the level of service. I have seen a lot of people get lazy when they think they are getting a big tip because of a big bill.

At an establishment of that class you would tip a minimum of 20% of the total amount or in New York we double the tax and add a little more. The matride' may also be given a seperate tip after seating you. You could probably find out on line by checking a miss manners website or something. You could also call the resturant ahead of time and ask them what they suggest for their staff.

Yes, you always tip a percentage of the bill unless it is included - double check your bill before you include a tip.

Yep. It's 15-20% of the bill before tax unless they have added the gratuity to the total which would be indicated.
Check out this link. It talks about all the 'extra' people you may need to tip at a four star restaurant:

Yes. It's 15-20% of the pre-tax bill no matter how large the bill. If your bill is $300...you should tip $45-$60.
