It'd be nice if parents actually parented their kids. We're living in a fast paced, messed up world, and too many parents are shrugging off their reponsibilities.
All you can do is be the best parent you can be when you have kids. Be honest, and raise your children to be productive people.

Just because companies make the clothes doesn't mean you have to let your kids wear them. They are making clothes sluttier and it can be hard to find decent clothing, but worth the effort.
I think it's tv and movies that mostly expose kids to stuff, but it's the parents' fault for letting the kids watch them. I learned what sex was from a friend at the age of six. I guess parents can't be blamed for what the friends teach kids because you can't totally screen your kids' friends, but where did the friends get it? It's so messed up and I'm frankly a little worried about what I'm going to do as my daughter gets older.

I completely understand where you are coming from. With that being said look around, what's all over the media, TV, music video's? SEX, why cuz it sells We have a moral declining in this country and it's just going to get worse.
Clothes are getting sluttier because well 1st off parent BUY them! secondly kids wanna be like the girls on TV, their fav music artist actress etc. I mean it's the parents job to detour this kinda thing. I don't let my children watch tv, only certain movies, we only listen to music that doesn't talk about sex, and we are open about our bodies. Not to the degree where I describe how to have sex with my nine y/o, but he knows good and bad touches, We discuss what he has learned from his friends too, and I tell him about the importance of abstinence.

I think it's mostly what the media influences, and how parents aren't really sure how to deal with it anymore. There are so many things on everyone's minds now, it's just hard to keep up sometimes, i think.
I mean, the nine year old girls who are skipping down the street with mini skirts are influenced by things like those bratz dolls, their favorite singers, who happen to be over 18 and can dress like that, as well as other girls and peers. As for learning words and habits, they can pick them up for people near them or tv as well, and parents can't do much once something has penetrated a small child's mind.

I don't really think any one of those is to blame. I have noticed the way the kids are dressing these days. I wasn't allowed to wear spaghetti strapped tanks untill i was out of highschool and now i see 10 yr olds walking down the street in outfits that my parents would still fuss over.
But then i remember what my great grandma told me. When she was a young girl it wasn't appropriote for girls to wear pants or anything that came to far above the ankle. Today that is totally accepted in society. So i don't know if i am just stuck in a generation or if maybe it is wrong.
I do know that kids have to be cool. Everyone tells them not to focus on that but when it comes down to it kids have too or they face hard times. it's terrible but it's true.
Hopefully it's just a trend. Nobody is to blame thats just the way things turned out and theres nothing we can really do to stop. the more we nag kids the more they will rebel. maybe if us adults start dressing like that then the kids will stop. ha ha

Yes i think that they are making slutter clothes for children...my daughters 4 and you should see the stuff that fits her in the kids section...i wouldnt even wear it if i was single and had no children!! i do blame the parents for putting there kids in it...there buying the product so they are producing more of it....I do think that the younger age groups are picking up bad habits but i mean its movies its there freinds...its everyone all combind..if they have an older sibling and catch them say...smoking a joint there going to know what it is..cause chances are there siblings going to tell them not to tell....so they catch it..if your freinds are talking about drinking for instance your going to know wha tthat is ...if your idol is someone who gets busted with having weapons in the car tehre going to hear about that....worse of all if your there parents and they catch you do something ...one your going ot avoid it and two then there going to ask there frerinds and three one of those freinds has either seen someone do something like that or seen a movie...its everyones fault

Society may offer more choices today, but parents still have to parent by making the choices for their children. If parents allow children to be exposed to media, clothing, etc. that is unsavory, then parents have to deal with the questions, comments, and consequences.
In a free market society, what "sells," is always what people are willing to buy.

So much of this I believe can be attributed directly to television. Think back when you were very young...do you remember seeing little girls or their dolls dressed the way you do on commercials now. Think back to the shows...and how many discussed sex, or depicted sex, at least at the time of day when young viewers were watching. Not to sound like a grandpa or anything but it was a more innocent time.

Uh...yes you can blame their parents. Kids are in control, because of people who make up excuses for their parent's lack of parenting. Nobody made their parents buy those clothes. It's that simple.
