I've been hearing this a lot. People will say life is to short so they drop any pretense of morals to do a whole host of stupid things: drinking to excess, partying real hard, taking drugs, drag racing, having sex with everyone, stealing, and just not caring how other people feel or what they do to them. I've read answers here to peoples questions that are like this. Someone's advice will be to throw caution to the wind and just do what you want even if that person (the one asking) dosen't know what they really want or need to do.

I personally believe that this common excuse is used for no other means than to justify behavior which is doubtful. I further believe it is a means used to both avoid and push aside their responsibilities rather than face them however, these same people who use this excuse will eventually pay the price of their irresponsibility as it always comes home on them as the Lord said "whatsoever a man sows that also shall he reap"

I think of "the life is too short" concept this way: If you continue to go through a bunch of assorted "stuff" with a person or people, evaluate if that situation can be changed or if it can be changed as it relates to your friendship with that person / those people. Be sure and look at "the whole picture." If it can't, drop them..."life is too short."

To me, it seems that the fact that life is short should be a motivator to behave better, because this is our shot to do a good job!

I think the "life is short" people are simply trying to avoid thinking about the future.

When someone says that to exuse their behavior just reply back that "Sure life is short, but doing what you've been doing is gonna make it a hell of a lot shorter."

I notice they're never too afraid to die, but none of them seem to think they'll be maimed or paralyzed for life.
