I've decided that some people wear their cell phones on their hip like a badge of honor. It makes them SOMEBODY! They have their phones turned up to make sure it disturbs everyone around them and draws attention to them to say..."hey, I'm important...I have to take this call". While we are on the subject I think that it is plumb rude for people who are out to dinner to be talking on the phone...letting their date or family just sit there and twiddle their thumbs! This loud talking like everyone is interested in their conversation is also a peeve of mine. Get a life people!

I think in most cases it's so that they can hear when somebody calls them. Some people spend a lot of time in noisy places or have a hearing problem or usually keep their cell phone in their bag and don't hear it from there or something. I think it's rarely about being noticed.
Personally I hear badly and need my cell phone ringer to be loud, especially on my work cell phone. I'd use vibration if I could, but I rarely feel it when I'm walking. I always switch the sound off though when I go to places that are meant to be rather quiet (meetings, waiting rooms etc.).

For the girl who asked, "Why does it matter?" She said because it's so annoying. And it is. Everyone has to TRY to be so clever with their ring tones. After the first few times, it gets old.
Also, for the people who say, "So I won't miss a call". Who's calling that is so important? Nobody. There are no important calls. It's all just a bunch of useless gab.
There was a time when cell phones didn't exist and the world was able to function fine without every idiot having to have a phone on their person.
Curse you Alexander Graham Bell.

I think that people with cell phones are afraid they will miss an important call if they don't blast the ringer loud.

comparable because of fact the previous 'Walkmans' hifi ....as a neighbour, you may many times right here the intrusive and stressful 'TshTshTsh' etc coming from the headphones of the person. cellular telephone shoppers who do no longer 'change off' interior the cinema, as an occasion, could be an a discomfort interior the backside - in basic terms as people who might desire to talk on the TOPS of their VOICES whilst employing their telephone. There are possibly different objections to the way human beings use and the place they use their telephones - which others locate objectionable, intrusive, sick-mannered etc. My in straightforward terms different objection is amazingly some the IRRITATINGLY 'very own possibilities' that some have on their telephones with their baby-like 'ring tones.' If the possessing of weapons and the certainly 'taking photos of human beings' replaced into no longer unlawful, then i might supply finished vent to my precise of 'very own possibilities' too. Sash.

They want to hear the call... think about it people go into and out of all types of noise conditions throughout their day ... It would be very inconvenient to keep changing the ringer volume.

For me, it's so I can hear when people call me. I do not try to be rude but a lot of times I'm not paying enough attention and miss important calls. People should turn them off in places like church or a movie theater though. That's what I do.

Thought process of a moron with a loud ring, "Look how important I am! My phone is ringing at roughly the volume of a newborn's wail and everyone in the meeting is looking at me. My but I am establishing a name for myself. I wonder if they'll make a new model with an even louder ring . . . HMMMM? Oh, I should answer my phone before it goes into voice mail!"
Honestly, I know ONE person who needed a loud ring because he is pretty much deaf. Otherwise, put it on vibrate!!!
