First, go buy a product called Nature's Miracle, or some other product that has the enzymes that "eat" eliminate pee or poop (you can buy these products at PetSmart or PetCo).

Then you can:
Use a rug shampooer with rug shampoo especially made to eliminate pet odors.
Use Oxy-Clean (test on an inconspicuous part of the rug-takes color off sometimes).
Let it dry (helps to put a fan up close to it).
And finally use fabreez.

Hopefully, that should do it.

My first suggestion is rent a steamer and buy the pet formula soap. Natures Miracle is AWESOME if you don't have a steamer. We had an incontinent dog who peed all over the house, steaming it up or using the poison got most of it.

What I did was I rubbed some dandruff shampoo on the stain. Let it sit. Then get a wet rag and rub it.

Whatever you use, do not use ammonia or anything containing ammonia. The smell of ammonia is similar to dog urine to a dog's nose. Your dog will think another dog has urinated there, so he will urinate there again in an attempt to reclaim territory.
