as mentioned on my blog, i died my hair black in memory of a best friend, & family pet, BO, a black Labrador
but i'm not the only one who's done things in memory of their dogs.
charles schulz of coarse created the peanuts comic strip with its most notable character, snoopy
& the fictional character dr. henry jones jr. goes by the alias "indiana", after his dog.
but who else has done things in honer of their pet?

In Louisiana there is "Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers" a chain of restaurants named after the owner's yellow labrador Raising Cane. See the website. http://www.raisingcanes.com/intro.htm and click on "Why the dog" for the full story

This isn't really notable or an honor, but I always smile and relive fond memories every time my long passed away cats receive junk mail...after being gone for over 15 years! It was when the cats were getting on in years, I decided on a whim to fill out a couple "consumer surveys" using my cats names and my last name as the sender. Ever since, these cats have received countless credit card offers, assorted junk mail, and SAT prep info when they were "high school" age. They received military recruitment mailings and occasional phone calls! Their mail has dwindled down to maybe a credit card offer every few months. The demographic and marketing experts probably determined these near 28 year olds are probably not living at home anymore. But I always smile when I see another credit card offer for them.

And all I have is memorial wall in my pet room.

The wall has shelves that hold their cremated ashes in an urn, their pictures, ornaments that look like them, their collars and name tags, their candle to burn on the day of their death while I take some time to contemplate their life with me, and their favorite toys.
