If you like to drink and want to save a few bucks, it is beneficial to buy drink credits before you go. For example if you are traveling on Carnival you can purchase vouchers for a certain number of drinks and pay a predetermined price. This is more beneficial if you drink pricey mixed drinks because I remember beer being the most affordable liquor.
Also on deck during the day they have special priced beer buckets....It's like 6 beers for the price of 4. They come in an ice bucket so stay cold for awhile and if you dont drink them you can always bring them back to your room and ice them.
Don't be fooled by the cheap prices in the gift shops on the boat either. They make you check your liquor with the sales clerk and you can't have it until you get off of the boat. Not even worth it.
Like I said before, we beer drinkers are lucky that beer is the most affordable thing to drink....it's not really much different than getting a bottle of soda...just watch your prices and check you bar bill daily to make sure you aren't going over you limit....
Check in your shore excursion descriptions, some of them include beer and spirits. I went to passion island in cozumel and it was all the margaritas and corona you could drink with the price of the excursion.

Nope! Drinks on cruises are ridiculously priced. The cheapest bet is beer, that is if you like beer. The mixed drinks will cost you anything from $5.00 to $10.00 and are very weak or watered down. I really don't bother to drink on a cruise because I refuse to pay those prices. Most cruise lines do not allow you to bring your own booze on the ship because they want you to purchase drinks from them. If they find booze in your luggage it is confiscated until you get off the ship on your return. Some cruise lines allow you to bring wine on board, but they have a huge corkage fee. I hope this answers your question.

The best way to get drinks is to order the cups that come with free refills. You pay about $50+ depending on the cruise line or how long you'll be on the cruise...and you can get a refill where ever and mostly whenever. Hope that helps.

I've been on the Carnival Conquest quite a few times. Alcohol, Cokes, Dr. Pepper you have to pay for. If you are getting off the boat at any of the ports, buy the beer on land. It's cheaper than paying on the boat. Buy bottled and DO NOT drink from tap.

not really cheap, but you'll have fun. They probably serve free drinks in the casino depending on what cruise line.

Just buy it in the port cities and bring some with you when you get on board. The last cruise (COsta) I went on we left most ports with alchohal.
