I am having my Tdap (tetanus, diptheria, pertussis) shot tomorrow. Please post your stories on having this shot. Does it hurt? Did you have yours at school? Is it similar to having the TB (a.k.a. BCG) injection or less painful?

This vaccine is going to hurt and is give intramuscularly in upper arm. I always suggest to my patients or their parents that Tylenol be taken 30 minutes before shot and then again four hours later. The tetanus part of the Tdap will usually cause your arm to be a little sore but Tylenol should help. Not sure where you are, but in most states in US, this vaccine is given between ages of 10-12 with the DTap(4 doses) having been given before 18 months. It is also recommended that adults have Tetanus vaccine every 10 years with at least one time before 65, a Tdap be exchanged for the tetanus. This shot is nothing like the TB test that is placed on the underside of your forearm subcutaneously. I have some patients say they don't hurt, but every shot I've ever gotten hurts some. The only advise on getting shots I can relay is DO NOT tense up, will hurt lots worse. Good luck and don't forget to ask for your lollipop.

certain, think ofyou've got a moderate knot on the injection website for a week or so. After about 10 days if its nonetheless there i ought to have a clinical specialist examine it out yet I see no reason behind difficulty except there's a rash or severe redness.

Tetnus shot will hurt and sting a bit, and your arm will be sore for a while. Don't get it on the arm that you write with or use the most.

The worst part will be when the nurse passes judgement on you and says "Just a little P.r.i.c.k"
