My parents won't let me travel alone to see my boyfriend in the UK. They think I'll get rapped by a guy once I'm traveling from the random airports or may get lost. They won't help me get to the UK either by one of them coming along with me to see him for about a week, like Spring Break. Soo.. I'm stuck in the US like in April. Sooo.. what should I do in order to get to the UK, what is the maximum age to travel alone, and should I try to get a family escort to come with me??

You can't travel alone until you are 18 years old or have a notarized note from your parents saying you have permission to travel. You are considered an unaccompanied minor until you are 15 years old. That means that you have to have an escort through the airports and until you are picked up at the other end. This status is optional for 15-17 year olds.

So basically you're stuck in the US. You have to have your parents permission. Your aunt, uncle, grandma or anyone else doesn't count. The best thing you can do is show your maturity and responsibility. It won't help your cause one bit by throwing a tantrum. That'll only convince them they made the right decision. Is it a matter of money? Tickets to the UK are not cheap. How much does this trip mean to you? If you're serious, start saving money.

Think like a parent. What do you think your parent's might be worried about? Can you give them some answers that will subside their fears? If they're worried about you getting lost, can you show them the route you'll take, how you'll get from place to place and show them you know what you're doing?

Prove your responsibility and you'll get a lot more opportunities.

If you ever watch the news, you know that the world isn't full of candy canes and cupcakes. There are very bad people out there who would see a young person traveling alone and try to take advantage of the situation. Your parents are protecting you from predators. They should be commended. Once you are an adult, you can do whatever you want and risk life, limb & innocence for any old gal you've never seen before. Hey, what if this "girl" is really a 45 year old guy who is trying to lure you into sex slavery or something? It's happened before. Don't trust someone you met online. Could be the biggest mistake of your life.

All of this really depends on how old you are. If you are 18 or older - go anyway. If you are younger than 18, you are expecting WAY TOO MUCH from your parents!

If you are under 18, the only possible way you could do this is convince your parents that your boyfriend's parents will be escorting you the entire way of your trip. Even then, I still would not expect them to go along with this.

You don't say how old you are. Being a parent, I can understand your parents being reluctant to let you travel outside of the country by yourself. My then 19 year old daughter went with her friend out to San Francisco to visit the girls friends. I was nervous the whole time she was gone, but I let her go. She has also gone to Atlanta Georgia twice since then all by herself and has had no problems. I would suggest that you find a good friend to go with you and convince mom and dad that you are responsible enough to travel to far off lands. But....if you are underage, if I were your mom and dad, I would say no too. Sorry.

well.. it reli depends on how old u r... n if your bf, wud pick u up from the airport, you could always ask the crew to escort u or something... it shouldn't be too hard to ask some help from the crew of watever airline you're traveling on... You could even ask some of your friends to come along, like that you are not alone, anad your parents will know u are not al alone... you could try...

tell me if that helps..

good luck!!

You did'nt list your age. That most likely means you're too young. If you're a minor, you can't leave the country without your parents consent...
