I mean it probably take about a week to hike the whole trail. Be cool. All the sudden after watching these shows on Discovery. Like Man vs. Wild. Not that I want to do that. But I want to get out more to see the great outdoors. Sorry for putting a second question here. But are there any good trails to hike in the New England Area? Thanks for the info.

It is about 2765 miles. You walk 1 mile every 12 minutes. So 40 miles a day. That be about 2, and half months. An if you walk back about 5 months. I could see that.

No but I am planning to and have talked to many hikers who have or were in the middle of it. It is over 2,200 miles long and can take from 3-6 months depending on how you do it.

Plan well. Be in shape. Here is a link to the Appalachian Long Distance Hikers association.

Very few people have hiked the whole trail. Its an ambition that usually doesn't work out. Pick a nice section in VA or NC and have fun. Its more beautiful than words.

I've hiked sections of it in every New England state it goes thru. New hampshire in the presidential range area offers the most above treeline hiking on the entire length of the A.T. Get the guidebook for the state nearest you and start having fun.

I've never hiked the whole trail, but I have hiked sections through the Shanandoah National Park... unbelieveable views and fabulous geology!
